• Location: Eugene, OR (In-person)

• Schedule: Approximately 8-10 hours per week for 5 weeks total (Saturdays & Sundays October 3 to 31)

About the Eugene Clean Energy Fund Initiative

Local climate, health, housing, labor, and social and racial justice organizations* have come together to launch the Eugene Clean Energy Fund (ECEF) Initiative, planned for a vote on the November 2026 ballot. By establishing a business license fee on the gross profits of Eugene’s wealthiest businesses, ECEF would fund programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and household energy burden; expand public-owned renewable energy, transportation, and other green infrastructure; create high-road jobs in the green economy; and build community-wide climate resiliency, especially for Eugene’s frontline and historically marginalized areas.

*Steering Committee organizations include Beyond Toxics, Breach Collective, Oregon Just Transition Alliance, Oregon League of Conservation Voters, and Oregon Sierra Club.

Youth Campaign Internship Description

Beyond Toxics is seeking 5 Youth Campaign Interns for the Eugene Energy Fund (ECEF) campaign. This internship will provide training, support, and supervision through the ECEF campaign to support the measure ahead of the November election. This internship opportunity is for youth ages 15-20, to provide an opportunity to become engaged in a local grassroots campaign.

Skills and Qualifications

• Strong interest in learning about community organizing and grassroots campaigning including door-to-door canvassing, phone/text banking, as well as other campaign areas

• Willingness to work alongside campaign staff, partner organizations, volunteers, and community members

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Interest in environmental and climate justice issues

• Must be 15-20 years old and have access to reliable transportation

Preferred, But Not Required, Qualifications

• Bilingüe en español

• Completion of the Beyond Toxics Rise as Leaders program

Internship Schedule and Hours

• Saturdays and Sundays

• 8-10 hours per week, over five weeks (October 3, 2026 - October 31, 2026)

Compensation

Interns will receive a $500 stipend for their participation in the program, received at the completion of the internship. Interns must complete all hours to receive the full stipend amount. Partial participation will result in a pro-rated stipend amount.
